Here's what you'll need:
A towel (or similar fabric)
Fabric in the pattern of your choice
Scissors
Pins
Thread
Measuring tape
I cut both the towel and the fabric in 14x17 inch pieces, but you could make these any size you'd like.
Once you have your pieces cut out, just pin them together, right sides facing each other.
Then, just sew...
Leave a small opening so you can pull your fabric right side out.
Snip off the extra fabric on your corners for a better end result...
Almost done...
Sew a top stitch around the entire border to close the small opening.
Now you're done!
Here's another one I did without the top stitch all the way around.
There you have it! Super easy and cute:)
Have you done any quick and easy sewing lately? Tell me about it in the comments!
Those turned out really cute! What a smart way to use your extra fabric.

ReplyDeleteHi Lauren! Thank you so much!
I have a Janome Jem Gold 660. It's been great and it's perfect for a beginner like me:)
"Once you have your pieces cut out, just pin them together, back to back."
ReplyDeleteThis should read: right sides together, or front of fabric toward the terrycloth.
Thanks! You are right....that is a much better way of saying it! I will make the correction!
DeleteHi Rachel,
ReplyDeleteThese are so perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. Just curious, how did you close the opening when you did it without top stitching all the way around? Thank you!
Amber P.
Thanks, Amber! I closed the opening just by top stitching in that area (and not continuing all the way around). Hope that helps!
DeleteVery nice burp cloths, really cute
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I don't have any little ones around, so I made a big one for a bathroom rug. Easy, washable, used old towel and fabric stash.
ReplyDeleteDo I need to pre-wash both materials before I begin this project?
