Isabella Oliver maternity tops

I recently got this in the mail. I was so excited!

How cute is the packaging?
Before I show you what I bought, I have to say that maternity fashion has not exactly been what I expected. At first, I couldn’t wait to get a real “bump” so I could show it off with cute clothes, but I quickly came to realize that there just aren’t that many cute maternity clothes out there!

I have primarily been shopping at Destination Maternity which carries both Motherhood Maternity and A Pea in the Pod. I haven’t had as much luck as I would like with either brand. I find that the Motherhood clothes don’t hug my body the way I’d like them to and some of their clothes just flat out do not fit me. A Pea in the Pod has some better options, but their selection doesn’t always thrill me enough to justify some of their pricing, so I usually wait for a sale. I will say that their basics like tanks and t-shirts are cut a lot better than those from the Motherhood line, so I have had some luck with those.
When I found Isabella Oliver, I got excited. Their styles are just what I had been looking for, I only wish I had discovered them earlier on in my pregnancy! Their clothes really are designed to accentuate your growing bump…something I hadn’t been able to find elsewhere. Almost all of their tops are ruched or designed to wrap around your bump in the most flattering way. Because of the ruching and wrapping on many of their tops, your bump has room to grow, so these styles will last throughout the better part of your pregnancy. You could definitely buy them in your first trimester and wear them well into your third.

So, here’s what I got from them:

  The Puff Sleeve Wrap Top:

I got it in Electric Blue which is no longer available because I bought it during their summer sale. They do have new colors for fall here, which look beautiful! This top is everything I hoped it would be. It’s amazingly comfortable and easy to wrap. The sleeves are especially pretty and feminine.

I love this top so much that I might even have to get it in another color! It’s definitely a staple piece I could dress up or down for any occasion.

I also got their best-selling Wrap Around Top:

This top is basically the same as the puff sleeve top with the exception of the sleeves. It’s another great piece that I can see myself wearing often; especially once the weather cools off a bit. I also got this one on sale in the Emerald Green color which is no longer available. Their newest colors are here

Even at full price, I think the quality, versatility and classic styling of these tops are well worth it. I’d especially recommend them early on in your pregnancy, during that period of time where you wonder if people realize you’re pregnant, or if they think you’re just putting on weight! At least, that’s what I thought people must be thinking about me! These wrap tops will help define your bump and make you look smaller, instead of disguising it, which I think makes you look bigger than you really are.

I also have their Kimono Top

I ordered this one several weeks ago (in white) and it’s another great, stylish basic that is as flattering as it is comfortable….something that I’ve found to be rare among maternity clothes. Usually the most comfortable maternity tops are the ones that make you look like a tent. Who wants to look bigger than you already are when you’re pregnant? No one!
I hope these reviews help someone out there who might be as frustrated with maternity clothes as I have been! Have you shopped at Isabella Oliver? Do you have any complaints or praises to share about maternity clothes or stores? I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments!

*I have not been paid or received any perks from Isabella Oliver for these reviews. They are just my honest thoughts and opinions based on my experience with their clothing and I hope they can help someone out there!*

  1. Those are CUTE!!! I have some questions about sizes & prices - I'll message you.

  2. @Michelle

Aren't they Michelle?! They'd be perfect for the office or a night out:)

  3. Rach - I have some shirts from Motherhood Maternity size small. Are the Isabella shirts sized similarily to those?

  4. Hey Michelle. I don't think their sizes are similar in my experience.

I think Motherhood's size Small would be close to a size 1 or 2 at Isabella Oliver (depending on the specific top you're looking at). I find lots of size Small tops at Motherhood are big/baggy on me. All of the Isabella Oliver tops I have are size 0 and fit me really well.

    Hope that helps!

  5. Maybe you can help me! I'm 5 months pregnant with my 2nd and live in Montana, so I basically have to order all of my maternity clothing online, wait a week or more, then send it back wondering if maybe, just maybe the size smaller or bigger would be better. It's exasperating! I don't mind paying for quality, but when you try two styles in two sizes, that adds up to be a lot of money on your credit card. I'm wondering about the Isabella Oliver Ellerby Tunic, searching the web for reviews. It's viscose, which I think I like, but I'm not sure. Some reviews would help so much! Thanks for letting me vent!

    1. Hi Meredith, congrats on your baby on the way! I totally hear you...maternity clothes are tough! I don't have any info on that tunic in particular. The best advice I could give is to follow their size chart online and read the product details.
Here's a review I found on a different tunic of theirs...maybe this will help?
