DIY burp cloths

Since I had some fabric on hand that I never used in the nursery, I figured I'd make some much needed burp cloths with it. It's pretty simple! I was inspired by this tutorial and made a few minor changes.

Here's what you'll need:

A towel (or similar fabric)
Fabric in the pattern of your choice
Scissors
Pins
Thread
Measuring tape

I cut both the towel and the fabric in 14x17 inch pieces, but you could make these any size you'd like.

Once you have your pieces cut out, just pin them together, right sides facing each other.

Then, just sew...

Leave a small opening so you can pull your fabric right side out.

Snip off the extra fabric on your corners for a better end result...

Almost done...

Sew a top stitch around the entire border to close the small opening.

Now you're done!

Here's another one I did without the top stitch all the way around.

There you have it! Super easy and cute:)

Favorite drugstore beauty products

You don't always have to spend a lot of money to find good beauty products that work for you. Some of my favorite everyday beauty products are from the drugstore. I think they are worthy of sharing, so here we go!

I spent a lot of time looking for an eyeliner that would give me a nice smooth line, last all day and wasn't tedious to use. Finally, I came across this one. It goes on so smooth and it's easy to get a nice line without too much work or retouching. You wind the pencil up from the tube, so there is no messy sharpening, which is an added bonus. It's definitely the smoothest and darkest line I've gotten with a pencil. I use the Ebony Black color. It costs about $4.

I've tried so many mascaras, even higher end ones like Dior Show, but I always come back to Lash Stiletto. It lengthens and separates my lashes to perfection and it's never clumpy. The long, skinny and curved wand helps coat the very ends of my lashes which are otherwise invisible. For me, this is the perfect mascara! I wear the Very Black color. It costs about $8.

I've been using this creme since I've been pregnant. For some reason, my skin became very dry and my regular moisturizer was no longer cutting it. I use this creme during the day alone or under my makeup and at night before I go to bed. It's not too thick and absorbs nicely without any oily residue. I've had no breakouts with this at all and it hydrates my skin wonderfully. It costs about $12.

I just started using this product about a week ago and I already love it! I read Veronika's review on it a few weeks ago, so the next time I was at the drugstore, I decided to pick one up. I don't know if it's pregnancy related, but lately I have been feeling like the circles under my eyes are extra dark. This concealer definitely does the trick in hiding them. The formula covers really well but isn't too thick. It's very creamy and goes on nice and smooth with the sponge applicator tip. It doesn't look dry or cakey either, which is a problem I've run into with a few other concealers. I use the Fair shade and it blends with my skin perfectly. It costs about $9.

Since I've been pregnant, my hair has been so dry that I've had to cut back on washing it everyday. I wash it about every 2-3 days now, but sometimes it needs a little pick me up in between washings. This is the first and only dry shampoo I've tried, but I really like it. It's easy to spray on and smells great (even to my pregnant self)...very citrus-y and fresh...kind of like grapefruit. It absorbs any oil in my hair and even adds a little bit of volume so I can easily re-style it. You can't go wrong trying this product, it's only about $3!

I've been using this mousse for a couple of years now. It gives my hair a good amount of volume and a nice base for styling. My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it and this product doesn't weigh it down at all. I actually spray it on my hand first and then distribute it to my roots. I find I get a little more control with where the mousse goes by doing it this way. It costs about $14.

I hope these reviews were helpful! Do you have any favorite drugstore beauty products? Please share in the comments!

*I have not been paid or received any perks for these reviews, they are just my honest opinions based on my experiences with the products.

Honey garlic chicken - crock pot recipe

*If you're visiting from Pinterest, WELCOME! If you like this crock pot recipe, click here for more!*

I'm always on the lookout for a good crock pot recipe and I thought this one was tasty enough to share! I found it on Pinterest...the original recipe is from here. I made a few minor changes.

Here's what you'll need. You probably have all of the ingredients on hand:

1 package of boneless, skinless chicken breasts
3 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 c soy sauce
1/2 c ketchup
1/2 c honey
pinch of basil
salt & pepper to taste

Cut your chicken breasts in half, sprinkle with salt and pepper and place in bottom of crock pot. Chop up your garlic cloves. I like to cheat and use this:

Mix garlic, soy sauce, ketchup, honey and basil in a bowl and stir.

Add mixture to crock pot.

Cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours (mine actually cooked slightly faster than these times, but these are what the original recipe recommends). Remove chicken from crock pot and transfer to covered plate to keep warm. Reduce the sauce in a pot until thickened to desired consistency. Serve sauce over chicken. The original recipe also serves it with fresh, shredded basil on top, but I didn't have any on hand.

I made rice and broccoli to go with this and it was pretty yummy!

Have you found any good recipes on Pinterest lately? I have so many pinned, I'm sure I'll be posting more soon!

Favorite home decor stores - part 1

One of my favorite things to shop for is home decor. I thought I would start a series of posts that go over my favorite stores for some key home decor items by category. Today I’m going to cover throw pillows and area rugs for you!

Throw pillows

Home Goods usually has a pretty decent selection of throw pillows and their prices are great. Look out for the quality though…some of their pillows are made better than others. I usually go for ones with zippers or buttons so that I can remove the cover for washing. If you’re not worried about durability, then you won’t need to look for that. Fortunately, their prices are so reasonable that even if you need to replace their pillows now and then, it won’t cost you much. Here's one I got for $10!

Pottery Barn has great pillows that always go perfectly with the current season. The thing I love about their pillows is that you can buy the cover separately, so if you already have an insert at home, you can save some money by purchasing the cover alone. This option also lets you change up your throw pillows from season to season (or whenever you’re bored)…something I like to do!

ZGallerie carries some of my favorite pillows. They’re big and luxurious! Because of this, they are also a little bit pricey, but you can really make a statement in your room even if you purchase just one. They are that pretty! They do have sales from time to time, so look out for those.

Bed Bath & Beyond has some nice pillows at decent prices. Some of their pillows in the bedding section (that go with matching sets) are a little expensive, but their regular section of throw pillows is pretty reasonably priced. They usually have clearance sections too, so I like to check those once in a while. Just a few weeks ago, I got 2 of these pillows for 50% off.

Area rugs

Ballard Designs has a nice selection of different styles at good prices. I especially like their indoor/outdoor rugs. They are really affordable and come in a variety of colors that could work with almost any decor. Our foyer rug is from Ballard Designs. Even Lola likes it!

Overstock has a huge selection of rugs. You can search by color, style, price and size to make your life a little easier. Their prices are really good too! I got my living room rug from Overstock for $173 (it’s 5x8) which I think is a great price for a wool rug!

If you’re hesitant to order such a large item online, don’t be. Their standard shipping is only $2.95 and their customer service is great too. I’ve had to call them a few times with product questions and they’re always very helpful and responsive.

Frontgate has beautiful rugs! Some are quite expensive but they have a good amount that are reasonably priced as well. I have one of their indoor/outdoor rugs in my dining room.

You honestly can’t tell by the look or feel of the rug that it’s also an outdoor rug. It’s very soft underfoot and I think the pattern is gorgeous. I also got my kitchen rug there. It’s also an indoor/outdoor rug (much safer when you have a dog!) and I only paid $79 for it (it's 6x9)!

What are some of your favorite stores for throw pillows and area rugs? Are you looking for something specific for your home right now that I might be able to help you find? Let me know in the comments or send me an email!
