Let's talk about pictures...

I've always been crazy about taking pictures of everything! I'm pretty sure it annoys my entire family (and maybe my friends too!). But, since Audrey's birth, my picture taking has reach a whole new level of insanity! Can you blame me though?!

The only thing is, I've never been good about printing my photos and putting them in albums. Lately,  I've been realizing that there's no sense in having thousands of pictures sitting on my computer that no one ever looks at.

I think it's high time I do something about this.

I'm thinking about making photo books on Blurb. Have any of you ever done that? I heard it's a great end product, and that the site is very user friendly. I've made photo books on Shutterfly before, but I'm thinking about giving this a shot since I can create a much larger book.

Do you go the traditional route and print your photos to go in a regular album, or do you like creating photo books online? What sites have you tried? Tell me about how you like to organize your photos, and I'll keep you updated on what I'm doing, too!

9 month comparison shots

Audrey turned 11 months old today! I can't believe that next month she will be a year old! It just doesn't seem possible!

But let me rewind...a couple of months ago, I wanted to share these comparison pictures with you, but I was missing some of the pictures due to my crazy computer situation....

Well, now I finally have them and I couldn't wait to do this with them!

Me, at 9 months pregnant, and Audrey, at 9 months old.

Thank goodness I got smaller while she got bigger! Haha:)

Hope you guys liked these little "then & now" shots! I make them using PicMonkey. It's really so easy and fun to use! Have you tried it?

What's been happening around here!

Hi everyone. I've been really busy around the house (and in general) lately, so I thought I might as well fill you in on some things!

  • We've been trying to "fix" our front yard and we are just no good at it! We planted some things last year only to learn that we were wrong about how much sun we get, so lots of them aren't doing well now. I thought I had a brilliant idea, so we came home with a hydrangea this morning, only to realize it's probably way too big for the area we had in mind for it. So frustrating!!! Hey, at least Audrey looked really cute at the gardening center!

  • Planning for Audrey's birthday party is in full swing. If you missed it, here's the inspiration board:

I already have the invitations put together and ready to send out next week. Now I'm just working on decor and planning for the food. I'm having so much fun with this!

  • I've made very little progress in my craft room, although it has been a great place for me to work on projects. It actually looks a lot worse than this now, since I've been down there making things!

I ended up buying this shelf from Ikea...and it's been sitting in a box in my foyer for weeks. I just haven't had time to put it together! I'm excited about it though. I think it will look great in the room, and it will be awesome for storing my fabric and supplies in baskets.

I couldn't find an ideal table for my craft room, so what I decided to do is to move my kitchen table down there, and I ended up finding a "new" one for the kitchen on Craigslist! It's oval and the top sort of looks like it's made up of wooden boards. Does that make any sense?! I don't have a picture of it, but I'll be painting it white and distressing some point! Right now it's sitting in the garage just waiting for me!

  • Do you remember me talking about how my old photo library was in limbo, and therefore, I didn't have access to some photos that I needed for posts? Like, the piped cushion for the cane settee? Well, I finally was able to recover the photos, and the reorganizing wasn't as bad as I thought it would be! Unfortunately, I just don't know when I will get around to going back and doing older tutorials like that. Even if I do, I'm not sure I would remember all the details well enough to share them accurately. Maybe the pictures will jog my memory, but for now, I'm going to cross things like that off my list and just move forward. I'm sorry if you were looking forward to that tutorial in particular! I will still try to do it at some point, but I can't make any promises, so think of it as a nice bonus if it pops up one day!

  • Remember that china cabinet that I bought for $20 a while back?

I started painting it over a month ago, and haven't had time to get back to it since! Other things keep taking priority, but I really want to have it done by Audrey's party. It's going to be white and I think I might glaze it too, but I'm not totally sure yet.

Well, I think that's about it for now! I hope you're all having a great weekend! Tell me what you've been up to lately!

I got my September box last week, but just haven't gotten around to posting this until now! I am sad to say that this box was not exciting to me...just like the last several have been.

Let's take a look:

The only thing that is interesting to me is the nail polish. I will probably give the perfume sample away (I'm just not a big perfume wearer since Audrey has been born), I don't usually shop at Madewell, and the rest of the samples are just kind of ok.

I've decided to cancel my subscription for now. I kept telling myself that if I didn't like the next month's box, that I would cancel....and I think that went on for a few months.

It's not that I don't think Birchbox is a great idea. I totally do. I've even found some great products which I've ordered in full sizes, like Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer and Befine Exfoliating Cleanser (which is unavailable on the Birchbox website right now).

I will probably sign up again in the future, but for now, I think my $10 a month can be better spent elsewhere. If you are interested in trying it out, you can still use my referral link by clicking here!

If you're a Birchbox subscriber, what did you think of your box this month?

Our third anniversary!

Today is our third wedding anniversary! Josh took the day off from work, so we are just going to hang out as a family, maybe go out for a couple of meals, and just enjoy each other's company and relax! Josh and I will be having a date night this weekend to celebrate (thanks to Rebekah coming over to watch Audrey!).

I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful husband, who is also an amazing father. I love you honey! Thanks for putting up with all of my projects, photoshoots and redecorating! Audrey, Lola and I just wouldn't be the same without you. Happy 3rd anniversary! XOXO

It's fall at our house!

Here are our fall decorations this year. A few things might change, but for now, I think it's mostly done. I still need to buy some larger pumpkins for outside, and smaller for inside that I can glitter!

Hope you enjoy!

Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have a great weekend!

Have you decorated for fall? Share a link below of your fall decor if you can!

DIY decoupage pumpkins

I know what you're thinking....decoupage?! Ew. Does it remind you of crafts from your childhood, like it does for me? I used to decoupage everything as a kid. I thought it was the best idea ever! I promise, though, this project looks all grown up, and very stylish, if I do say so myself!

Take a's so easy! In case you don't remember how decoupage works, here are the easy steps!

My friend Amanda gave me this ceramic pumpkin trio a couple years ago (thanks Amanda!).

To change them up a bit, I used:

To start, I used Rub 'n Buff on the pumpkin stems....because everything is prettier when it's gold! I wore a plastic glove for this step, so I didn't have to scrub the Rub 'n Buff off of my finger.

Then, I tore my sheet music into strips. Eventually, I realized that it would be better to have all different shape and size papers, so I then tore more. I happened to have a bunch of this sheet music leftover from a project in Audrey's nursery.

Now, if you're a decoupage veteran, you'll know what to do next. Coat your project surface with the decoupage glue, as well as the backside of your paper.

Apply your paper to the surface, glue side to glue side. Add a top coat of glue to your paper. Don't worry! It dries clear!

Repeat the steps until your whole surface is completely covered. You can add as many layers as you like until you reach your desired look, but allow for some drying time in between.

I was a little worried that the orange would show through the white paper, but in the end, it dried completely opaque!

Here's how they look now!

What do you guys think? Have you decoupaged anything recently?! I've been enjoying looking at my new pumpkins around the house, along with my other fall decor. I'm going to share that with you guys later this week! Have you decorated for fall yet? Let me know in the comments!

Audrey's first birthday party - inspiration

I have debated sharing this inspiration board that I made....only because I kind of want everything to be a surprise for the guests, but I decided that I'm just too excited not to share it! Ultimately, everything will still be fun for them to see, no matter what....and let's face it. Everyone is coming to see Audrey, not my cute decorations and food! it is!

Unfortunately, I don't have all of the original sources for the photos, but I do know that the invitations in the top right corner are Jones Design Company, and the glitter pumpkins are mine. (If you know the sources, or if the photos are yours, please let me know so I can give credit!).

So, the theme is Classic Pooh and fall. Audrey loves Pooh and I thought it would be cute and appropriate to include some fall elements as well, since her party will be at the end of October. We'll be celebrating a couple days after her actual birthday, which is on the 25th.

I cannot believe my baby is turning one next month! Everyone says how quickly they grow, but I don't think it's something you can imagine, until you experience it. I feel like this has been the fastest year of my life!

We are just so blessed and so excited to be celebrating our little Audrey Pearl as she turns one!

Homemade pumpkin spice latte

If this post looks familiar, you are not mistaken! I posted this recipe last fall, but I thought it was a good one to share again, in case you haven't seen it! I love Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes, but sometimes I'm just too lazy to leave my house to get one. This is a yummy homemade solution, and it won't cost nearly as much as the Starbucks version!

The original recipe I posted calls for half and half, but I made it with soy milk today, and it turned out just fine! Not as creamy, of course, but still good enough to satisfy my craving!

You'll need:

2 cups half and half, whole milk, reduced fat milk, or skim milk (I used fat free half and half)
3 tablespoons canned pumpkin puree
1-2 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1-4 shots espresso or very strong coffee (I used decaf espresso)

First, brew your espresso. I don't have a regular coffee maker, so I used an espresso disk for my Tassimo.

While your coffee is brewing, mix your milk, sugar, pumpkin, and  spices in a small saucepan.

Heat until it's just about to boil, then take it off the heat and add vanilla.

Transfer to a blender or frother and blend until frothy.

Now, combine your milk mixture with your espresso. I didn't measure for this step, I just tasted until I was happy with the result.

Top with extra spices and enjoy!

You'll have enough of the milk mixture to make about 2 small lattes. You can adjust pretty much everything to your taste! I've made this a few times and skipped the blending/frothing part and it's just as good, but I recommend using a sieve to remove all of the larger pieces of pumpkin that would normally get mixed in with your blender.

This recipe was adapted from here.

I really think you will love this recipe! Happy latte making!
