We saw many homes that were on the market, but none of them felt just right for us. God has really blessed us with this amazing opportunity to build our home and we are so excited for everything that is to come.
There's a pretty crazy story behind our decision. You see, over a year ago, when Audrey was just a little newborn, we drove through this community where we'll be building. We were just looking casually at that time, not ready to move just yet, but, we both fell in LOVE with it at first sight. It was so different from any we had seen. When you first drive in, there's a beautiful, wide road, lined with pretty farm-like fences, there's even a farm garden, and a grass dog park. We thought it was just so perfect! We walked through a couple of the model homes that day, not really loving any of them, and kind of just went on our way not thinking much more about it.
This time, over a year later, when we were looking and really ready to move, we got to the point of knowing that we wanted to build, and revisited this community. We thought that the original area of the community that we loved so much had been long sold out, and were sad about that, but decided to look into building on another side of it. (It's a really large community split into 3 sections that spans over 4000 acres). We got really excited about the possibility of living here, but in the end we just didn't feel quite right about the decision with the particular builder we were looking at. I was sad, but I put the idea out of my mind that we would live there.
We continued on for several more weeks meeting with other builders, in other communities, not feeling peace about any one of them.
Then....when it seemed like we were nearly out of options, our real estate agent emailed us that there were some openings in this community in the exact original area that we wanted to be! We were pretty thrilled, but didn't want to get our hopes up too much. After a meeting or two with the builder and walking the available homesites, things were just falling into place. We prayed and finally felt like this was the right home for us. We really came full circle back to the first place we fell in love with over a year ago!
And guess what our home will look like? Remember my post about my dream home? How amazing is that? Now, it's not quite my old farmhouse, but it does have a lot of charm, and there's a farm in the community where we can buy fresh produce all year round....so I think that's pretty perfect!
It's about a 6 month process to build, so we should be moving in near the end of September if everything goes according to schedule. It seems so far away because we are so excited, but I know it will go by fast! We're actually going to the design center tomorrow where we'll pick out things like countertops, cabinets, and flooring. We are really excited and just feeling so blessed! I'll be keeping you updated along the way, of course!
We're going to be very, very busy for the next few months, though. We are going to list our town home for sale soon, so we'll be moving into an apartment for a couple months while our home is being built. I'm not looking forward to moving twice in 6 months, but it's necessary and I'm sure it will all be worth it!
Anyway, hope you all have a great day! I'll be sharing pictures of the whole process, including the design center visit tomorrow on Instagram...so follow along if you'd like!
